Limuel Vann Sr.

Limuel Vann Sr., 83, of 108 11th St., peacefully passed away, Sunday, May 17 at Sentara Obici Hospital. Limuel was born on Oct. 2, 1924 to the late Gus Vann and Viola Goodman Vann in Suffolk (Whaleyville), Va.
Limuel was educated in Suffolk Public Schools. He retired from Perry’s Lumber Co. after 40 years of service. He was a devoted and active member of Tabernacle Christian Church. He served diligently on the C.R. Upton Usher Board, Senior Usher Board and Men’s Fellowship.
Limuel was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Vann, and two sons, Redell and Alvin Vann.
Left behind to cherish the fond memories of Limuel are four sons, Lemuel R. Vann Jr. (Maxine), Wadell Vann, Richard Vann, all of Norwalk, Conn., and Danny Vann, of Bridge Port, Conn.; two daughters, Janice Fry and Gladys M. Vann, both of Norwalk, Conn.; a special and devoted friend, Annie Mae Worrell, of Suffolk, Va.; the mother of his children, Dorothy Vann Beamon, of Norwalk, Conn., and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family and friends.
Mr. Vann will be on view from noon to 7 p.m. and the family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21 at the funeral home. The family will receive guests at all other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. P. Watford, 911 Lake Kennedy Drive. A service of remembrance will take place at noon, Friday, May 22, at Tabernacle Christian Church, the Rev. Dr. Carlton Upton, pastor. Interment will immediately follow at Langston Family Cemetery.
