Rodgers scores 10 in All-American game

King’s Fork senior TaShauna Rodgers scored 10 points for the East team on Wednesday night in the McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game in Miami. The West defeated the East 69-68.
Rodgers, who’s the first Suffolk basketball player to be named a McDonald’s All-American, made 3 of 6 three-point shots in the game. Rodgers played 20 of the game’s 40 minutes and got five rebounds and one assist. Rodgers has committed to a scholarship from Georgetown.
Skylar Diggins, who will be attending Notre Dame, scored 18 points for the East to lead all scorers. Taber Spani (Tennessee), Christina Marinacci (Southern California) and DeNesha Stallworth (California) led the West with 11 points each.
On Monday night at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Rodgers finished second to Diggins in the girls’ three-point shooting contest.
