One lane of Pruden Boulevard will be closed through Saturday to allow for improvements associated with the Virginia Regional Commerce Center, officials announced Monday.

A westbound lane just west of the U.S. Route 58 bypass will be closed as workers remove and replace a section of curb and gutter and mill the existing asphalt to prepare for a new overlay, a city press release stated.

The work is being paid for and performed by the commerce center’s developer, who hopes to “address ride-ability issues with the recently installed pavement,” the city said.

The outside westbound lane will be closed today, and there will be lane shifts from outside to inside lanes throughout the week. One westbound lane will remain open throughout the project.

The work should be complete by Saturday evening, weather permitting.
