Healthy kids can earn Tides tickets

Coca-Cola, a leading donor to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads’ We Build People program, is partnering with the Norfolk Tides to provide YMCA of South Hampton Roads members ages 8 to 18 an incredible opportunity to participate in a Healthy Kids Challenge.
Beginning March 1, children who pre-register for the Healthy Kids Challenge at the Suffolk Family YMCA or any of our other Association Family Centers and record three workouts per week in FitLinxx for six weeks will receive a FREE ticket to a special Tides game on April 26, 2009.
All children who complete the workout requirements will be placed in a drawing for a special grand prize. Sixteen children will be selected to take the field prior to the game and to sit in special VIP seating during the game.
This is a great program that encourages our children to get active and stay active during the spring. If your child is participating in youth sports this spring, ask one of our fitness coaches to show you how to log those workouts into our FitQuest sytem. If your child isn’t involved in a spring sport, then workouts in the Interactive Zone, cardio room or group exercise classes can all count toward the activity requirement.
All children who participate in the Healthy Kids Challenge must be YMCA of South Hampton Roads members and must have a FitQuest number. If your child needs a FitQuest number, contact our membership services desk to schedule an appointment for your child with one of our certified fitness coaches.
The fitness coach will develop a personalized fitness plan for your child based on his interests, age and size. For more information on the Healthy Kids Challenge or FitQuest call 934-9622 or see any fitness coach.
I hope to see everyone at the Tides game in April celebrating an active spring!
