Grace Liles

Grace Liles, of 268 Jonathans Way, Suffolk, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2008. She was born in Chesterfield, S.C., and was daughter of the late Jade Rivers and Loffie Rivers Burns. Twice married, she was preceded in death by both husbands, J.B. Gainey and Kim Liles. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Woodrow Gainey and Willie T. Gainey; three sisters, Geraldine Harvey, Burnette Liles and Rebecca Gay; two grandchildren, Marilyn Bailey and Patricia Smith; and one brother-in-law, Frank Liles.
Mrs. Liles was a retired presser at a dry-cleaning industry for more than 50 years. She was a member and church mother of Bethany Cathedral COGIC.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Neila Harris (Marquis), of East Orange, N.J.; one son, Robert Gainey (Brenda), of Palmyra, Pa.; a stepson, Bernard Liles; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, including a devoted great-grandson, Micah Bailey, of Suffolk; three great-great-grandchildren; grandson-in-law, Michael S. Bailey, of Suffolk; a goddaughter, Pastor Margaret Johnson Young, of Suffolk; a godson, Robert Brown, of Norfolk; one brother-in-law, Robert Harvey, of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Gates of Heaven COGIC, officiated by Pastor Margaret Johnson Young. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery.
