Layden, Mazie wed

Betty Holland Layden and Michael Allan Mazie were married on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Suffolk Christian Church.

The Rev. Michael D. Halley officiated the ceremony. A reception followed in the Fellowship Hall of the church, given by the bride’s family.

The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard Samuel Holland. The groom is the son of Marjorie Louise Mazie and the late Charles S. Mazie, of Chesapeake.

Mrs. Jennifer Layden Harry, daughter of the bride, served as matron of honor. The bride was given in marriage by her children and escorted by her son, Dr. Jonathan Carl Layden. Flowergirl was Callie-Ann Basnett, fried of the bride, and Jackson Conner Harry, grandson of the bride, was ringbearer.

Mr. Eldred Eaton, long time friend of the groom, served as best man. Ushers were John Courtenay Harry III and Dr. Jonathan Carl Layden. Program attendants were Zachary Philip Harry and Lindsey Young.

Betty retired from the Suffolk Health Department after 35 years of employment. She is currently employed by Lakeview Medical Center.

Michael is employed by Hayne’s Furniture in Virginia Beach as a bedding specialist.

Ms. Mary Huber, organist of Suffolk Christian Church, played for the wedding, and Mrs. Dana Billy sang.

The couple honeymooned at Tides Inn in Irvington, Va. They will reside in northern Suffolk.
