Police have issued an artist’s rendering of the man accused of raping and stabbing a 21-year-old woman in woods off Old Dill Road early Friday.
Police said the man forced the woman back into her car at gunpoint after intercepting her at about 2 a.m. Friday as she was returning to her apartment in the 100 block of Forest Oak Lane. They said he then drove the victim to an area off Dill Road, where he sexually assaulted her, tied her to a tree and stabbed her several times.
The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car, a black, four-door 2008 Suzuki Forenza that police found on Adams Street on Sunday, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
The victim was able to escape from her bindings and ran into the 800 block of Old Dill Road, where she flagged down help from a passerby around 4:30 p.m. Friday, George said. She was treated and released from Sentara Obici Hospital.
The victim did not know her alleged assailant, George said. But based on her description, police were able to create a composite drawing of the suspect, seen at right.
The victim described her attacker as black, between the ages of 20 and 30, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with medium brown skin. He has bumps on his face, no facial hair and short hair with a receding hair line.
