CenterPoint informational meeting scheduled

Approximately 900 acres located along
the northern side of U.S. 58 (Holland Road), West of Kenyon Road, and South of
the CSX Railroad line has been submitted to Suffolk’s Department of Planning
and Community Development for rezoning. This property will soon be presented
to the Suffolk Planning Commission and then on to Suffolk City Council for
rezoning consideration.
The City of Suffolk has asked the new landowners, CenterPoint Properties, to
conduct an informational meeting to discuss this proposed rezoning with the
public at Lakeland High School, 215 Kenyon Road, Wednesday, September 24,
2008, at 6:30 pm. CenterPoint Properties will present an overview of their
master development plan and will be available to answer questions until 8:00pm.
This new proposed CenterPoint Intermodal Center is in response to meeting the
growing volume of port traffic, which according to state officials needs more than
60-million square feet of additional space for current and future transportation
related commerce. CenterPoint Properties expects to build more than 5-million
square feet of distribution, light industrial, heavy industrial and office space at the
park.
Citizens are encouraged to attend this meeting if they have questions or would
like to learn more about this rezoning request.
