GATES, N.C. — Rose Langston Taylor, 53, formerly of Gatlington Road, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin.
Mrs. Taylor was a lifelong resident of Gates County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late David Barnes and Catherine Eure Langston. Employed with the city of Suffolk, first as a social worker and later in employment services, she was a member of Kittrell’s United Methodist Church, served as a Cub Scout Den mother, was president of the Gates County High School Band Boosters and had received Volunteer of the Year Award, received in Raleigh, N.C., from the governor for her work with the Band Boosters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Ray Taylor.
Surviving are her daughter, Rose Marie Taylor; sons, Derrick Taylor and wife Nancy, Jeremy Taylor and wife Amy, all of Gates; sister Cathy Jernigan, of Gates; brother, David Langston, of Tifton, Ga.; granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth and Emma Frances Taylor; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wessie and Leslie Taylor, of Sunbury, N.C.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Kittrell’s United Methodist Church by the Revs. Mike Askew, Terry Williams and Billey Presley. Burial will follow in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery in Sunbury.
Friends may join the family at the home of her son, 407 Gatlington Road.
