Basketball tourney looking for teams and donations

The East Suffolk Federated Civic League will be holding its 21st Annual Canned Food Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament just prior to Thanksgiving and the tournament is looking for both youth and adult teams.
All games will be played at Booker T. Washington Elementary School with the tournament beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 and continuing on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 21 and 22.
The adult category is for players 18 and older; the youth category is for ages 13-17.
The civic league is looking for four teams in each category.
Teams may consist of 10 players.
The registration fee is $75 per youth team and $125 per adult team.
All team registration fees should be paid no later than Monday, Nov. 6.
All team members and spectators are requested to bring a canned food item to each game.
At the conclusion of the event, a monetary donation will be presented to the Suffolk Rescue Squad and the canned food will be donated to local nonprofit organizations such as the Salvation Army, the Suffolk Homeless Shelter and the STOP Organization.
All coaches/managers are responsible for each team’s age verifications.
Violations of this rule shall result in game forfeit.
Trophies will be awarded to the adult champions and a combination of trophies and medallions will be awarded to the youth champions.
