ROCKY MOUNT n Christine Clinton, 67, died October 1, 2006 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.

ROCKY MOUNT n Gladys McClain, 83, died September 28, 2006 at Nash General Hospital, Rocky Mount.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Light of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Mount. A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to www.hdpopefuneralhome.com.
Dallas Whittington
GREENSBORO n Dallas L. Whittington, 45, formerly of Rocky Mount, died September 28i, 2006 at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Church of God of Deliverance, Rocky Mount. Burial was in the Baker’s Cemetery. H.D. Pope Funeral Home was in charge.
Fay B. Lowe
ROCKY MOUNT n Fay B. Lowe, a native of Bertie County, died September 30, 2006. She was the widow of Harwood E. Lowe.
Survivors include three children, Deborah A. Lowe of Davie, Fla., Catherine F. Garrison of Portsmouth and David E. Lowe of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Bauer of Rocky Mount; a brother, Billy Burkett of Natchitoches; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by Dr. Carleton McKita. The family will receive friends at the home of Paul and Laura Ziegler after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Friends of Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Louise W. Floyd
FRANKLIN, Va. – Louise Whitley Floyd, 90, a native of Southampton County, died September 30, 2006 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of C.M. Floyd.
Prior to moving to the East Pavilion, she was a very active member of Sunbeam Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Maxey Floyd of Murfreesboro and Guy Floyd of Franklin; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Willis Switzer and the Rev. Kenneth Williams. Wright Funeral Home is in charge. The family suggests that memorials be made to Sunbeam Baptist Church, 31226 Sunbeam Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
Elizabeth Walker
SUNBURY n Elizabeth Walker, 74, a native of Gates County, died September 28, 2006 at Britthaven Nursing Home.
A funeral was conducted Monday at St. Paul Baptist Church, Sunbury. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, was in charge.
Survivors include her husband, Abraham Walker of Sunbury; two sons, Michael Johnson of Sunbury and Walter Johnson of Wilson; three daughters, Naomi Smith of Edenton, Elizabeth Lucille Ralph of New York and Lula Johnson of Baltimore, MD; one brother, James O’Neal Smith of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Samuel L. Newsome
AHOSKIE n Samuel Lee Newsome, died October 1, 2006at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Joseph Powell. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Newsome was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Zinnie M. Newsome of Ahoskie; two sons, Samuel Lee Newsome Jr. and Demarcus Newsome, both of Ahoskie; two daughters, Angela Davis of Norlina and Kiara Newsome of Ahoskie three sisters, Ida Epps of New York City, Clarice Newsome of Ahoskie and Beatrice Askew of Lewiston; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Agnes H. Boyce
RICH SQUARE – Mrs. Agnes Harrell Boyce, age 89, died at Roanoke Chowan Hospital on Monday, October 02, 2006.
She was a native of Northampton County where she continued to live residing in Rich Square.
She was a member of the Rich Square Baptist Church.
Mrs. Boyce worked in the nursery at the church for many years and was a member of the WMU.
She was a faithful visitor at the Autumn Care Nursing Home in Rich Square.
Preceding her in death are her mother, Ola Mae Bryant and her father, James Edgar Harrell, her husband, Dallas Boyce and their twin children, Harold and Caroll Boyce and her sister, Wilma Evans.
Survivors include her sister, Geraldine Tucker of Ahoskie, two brothers, Milton Harrell of Rich Square and Harlee Harrell and his wife Dorothy of Rich Square.
Surviving are two nieces, Brenda Knight of Raleigh and Diane Ackermann and her husband James of Hertford, one nephew, Larry Knight and his wife Jean of Fayetteville.
Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 2 P.M. at the Rich Square Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.
The burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square.
The family will receive friends at Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square on Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30 P.M.

Johnie L. Tolefree
CONWAY – Johnie L. Tolefree, 68, a native of Kansas City, died September, 30, 2006 at his residence.
Tolefree was retired from the US Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Hallie Tolefree of the home; one son, Johnie B. Tolefree of Conway; three daughters, Ronalda Tolefree-Vinson, Larcinia Tolefree and Annette Tolefree, all of Conway; one brother, Arthure Lee Tolefree of Kansas City; three sisters, Elnora Brown and Florence Ruff, both of Kansas City and Ozenia Brown of CA; and 12 grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tolefree family cemetery, Conway, by Rev. Anthony Rawlings, Jr.

WOODLAND – Vashtie Boone Mitchell, 84, a native of Hertford County, died October 1, 2006 at Hampton Woods Health and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson.
Mrs. Mitchell was a member of
2nd Baptist Creeksville Church, Murfreesboro, and a domestic worker.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Mitchell Deloatch and Gale E. Mitchell; and sons, James M. Boone, Magnus Mitchell Jr., David B. Mitchell and Lavern Mitchell.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at 2nd Baptist Creeksville Church, Murfreesboro, by the Rev. Anthony Rawlings Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
