Andre Jones and Nick Wright, rising juniors at Nansemond River, have been selected to participate in the Nike Hoop Jamboree in St. Louis, Missouri, June 14-17.
This is an invite-only camp for the top 120 sophomores/ rising juniors high school basketball players around the country.
The Jamboree is is in its eighth year as one of the premier summer opportunities for the best high school underclassmen.
St. Louis University hosts the four-day event.
Sherman Dillard, a former All-American player at James Madison, and then head coach at JMU, as well as Indiana State, is the camp director.
Particpants invited to the Jamboree were chosen by Dillard. Scouts and experts from some of the nation’s top recruiting publications are Dillard’s staff for the four days.
The Jamboree is closed to college coaches, media personnel and the general public.
During the camp, players are involved in classes designed to teach team leadership, media etiquette, interviewing skills and overall character.
&uot;You get invited to this camp based on individual talent during AAU play and on how good your high school team is,&uot; said Nansemond River head coach Ed Young.
&uot;We are proud of this recognition of Nick and Andre as for what it says about our program here at Nansemond River,&uot; said Young.
