Newsome top pro at Pro-Am

Suffolk Golf Course hosted the Bank of Hampton Roads Pro-Am Friday afternoon with Tim Newsome winning the pro portion of the one-day tournament with a 3-under 69.
Suffolk’s own club pro, Jason Fox, tied with Tim Poland in second place with 70.
&uot;It was a great day for the event, we had perfect weather and we had a good field,&uot; Fox said.
&uot;We had 22 pros come from Carolina, Richmond, Northern Virginia, and around this area and it made it a good tournament.&uot;
The team of professional Dan O’Boyle, and amateurs Dale Pinchbeck, Ricky Conner and George Dakos took the top team prize with a 129 (15-under par).
Two teams tied for second place at 131, pro Kevin McCord with Cory Cook, Chris Simonton and Don Farmer; and pro Tim White with Gerry Riddick, Charles Sholton and Ronnie Adams.
Closest to the pin winners, which was decided on the 16th hole, were Carla Rasmussen on the amateur side and Buddy Lawrence for the pros.
