NRHS student gets Chums award

Christopher T. Williams, son of Darryl and Adriane Williams, was the recipient of the Chums of Suffolk Annual Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded at his graduation from Nansemond River High School in June 2005.
Williams’ career goal is to become the Chief Executive of a major corporation, or to manage his own franchise. While at Nansemond River, his education, along with basic educational courses, included Advanced Placement statistics, and various career and technical education courses. Other educational endeavors involved the operation of the graphing calculator, computer, multi-line telephone, and software such as Microsoft Office XP 2003, Auto CAD 2003, Microsoft Outlook and Windows.
His many extracurricular activities, awards, work and volunteer experiences included, Future Business Leaders of America, varsity basketball, Boys’ State Leadership Conference 2004, one of Suffolk’s Outstanding High School Students for Leadership 2004, and New Mt. Joy Family Food for Living Ministries Children’s Church.
The Chums Club of Suffolk was organized over 65 years ago. Four of the club’s original members are still actively involved in the club. The members of the club have been awarding scholarships to deserving graduating seniors for many years.
