A motorist is accused of waving a gun at several children in a church parking lot Sunday afternoon.

A man pulled up at the intersection of Old Somerton and Turlington roads and pointed a small handgun toward several youngsters in the parking lot of

Southside Baptist Church around 6:45 p.m., said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. The gun was not fired, she said.

Although police are interviewing a suspect, no arrest has been made, George said.
