Mr. Edwin Martin

Strachan, of 4209 Swannanoa Drive in the Merrifield Section of Portsmouth, died Aug. 17 , 2005 . He was the wife of Atline Strachan. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Belrona Strachan. He is a native of St. Andrews, in Kingston, Jamaica and a longtime resident of New York. He formerly worked at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, N.Y.

His survivors include his wife, Atline Strachan of Portsmouth, three stepchildren, Barbara Williams and Charles Lewis of Portsmouth, and Donald Vann (Margaret) of Suffolk; four sisters, nine brothers, 11 sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral of triumph will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 24, 2005 at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James B. Williams of the Sixth Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

Harris Funeral Home at 685 Carolina Road is in charge of the homegoing service.
