Give Suffolk a try tonight

The Oregon Hill Funk AllStars take the stage this evening at the Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina as the TGIF summer concert series hits full stride. Performances will be held every Friday night for the next seven weeks.
We encourage all our readers to turn out at the wonderful venue your tax dollars helped create and enjoy the music, scenery and camaraderie.
A Suffolk resident who was out of town for the recent July 4th weekend returned on Monday evening and drove by the waterfront while the fireworks display was going on.
&uot;I was so proud to see all the people there,&uot; she said. &uot;I still can’t believe we have something like that in Suffolk.&uot;
As we’ve mentioned here in the past, such a scene would have been a dream as recently as just a few years ago. It hasn’t happened by chance, either, but like the entire transformation of downtown has been the result of planning and hard work on the part of many.
And it hasn’t all be &uot;city money.&uot; While public plans and investment have served as the impetus, many individuals have come forward to sink their own hard-earned money into Suffolk and we all who live or work here have a stake in those investments paying off.
So instead of heading out of town for your entertainment, give Suffolk a try tonight and the next several weekends as well. We think you’ll be pleased.
