A man was shot three times around 7 p.m. Friday evening at the Nansemond Square Apartments on Nancy Drive, police said.

After the man was shot, he and a family member got into a rented car and drove down Main Street, where they were stopped for speeding at the intersection of Main Street and Carolina Avenue. The victim was taken to Obici Hospital and expected to be airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General. Police at the scene said that his injuries were not life-threatening.

His identity and further details of the shooting were not available at press time.
