Cleo F. Mast

Cleo Frizzell Mast, 87, passed away on May 11, 2005 at Louise Obici Hospital in Suffolk after a brief illness. Born December 6, 1917, Cleo was the daughter of the late Ida Smith and Christopher Frizzell of Princess Anne County. After graduating in 1934 from Kempsville High School, she graduated in 1938 from Randolph Macon Women’s College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and numerous other college organizations.
Cleo and her husband, Howard moved to Suffolk in 1949 and both have been active members of the community ever since. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist, a charter member of the Westover Garden Club, Suffolk Social Club and the Suffolk Tennis Association.
Cleo will be remembered for her wonderful outgoing personality as well as her love of parties, people and pets.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Howard D. Mast; her daughter, Christopher Mast Witherspoon and her husband, Thomas Witherspoon of Virginia Beach; her cousins, Lynn Oliver Adams, Sally Adams, William Washington Oliver IV, and his wife, Lucy, and their children and her beloved beagle, Maggie.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert J. Parks.
