Mabell B. Artis

Mabell Boone Artis entered into eternal rest and peace on Saturday, April 30, 2005 in the Autumn Care Nursing Home, Suffolk, where she was a resident. She was born to the late Caleb Boone and Mrs. Mary Alice Gatling-Boone in Gates County, N.C. on July 31, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Artis.
Mabell was a domestic worker. She attended school in Nansemond County. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church United.
Her survivors include two sisters, Juanita Young and Verna D. Alston; three brothers, Carl V. Boone (Minnie), Clyde Boone (Elsie), all of Suffolk, and Harry J. Boone of Virginia Beach; one sister-in-law, Viola P. Boone of Suffolk; two devoted nieces, Lola J. Barrett and Ethel Brown, both of Suffolk; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, May 5, 2005 in Bethlehem Christian United by the Rev. Emmanuel Myrick. The interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in Crocker Funeral Home and other times at 822 Second Avenue. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
