Beauty pageant tickets available

Amy Spencer is competing in the 2005 Mrs. Suffolk-America May 1 at the Radisson Hotel in Hampton.
The show starts at 4 p.m. Tickets are now available for an early purchase price of $20 each. Contact Spencer at 613-0544 to purchase. Tickets will be delivered before the pageant. They are $25 at the door and not guaranteed to be available.
Laurel Garden Club to meet
The Laurel Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1885 Bridge Road, Suffolk. The program will consist of a Garden tour, lunch and presentation of year-end awards.
Meeting to feature anesthesiologist
Constantia Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12 at Village at Wood’s Edge in Franklin, with Mrs. Burton C. Bradshaw and Mrs. William Henry Abbitt as hostesses. Dr. Richard M. Thein, retired chief anesthesiologist for Obici Hospital, will be the speaker on &uot;How to be a Naturalized American Citizen.&uot; Call 539-7138 for more information.
NSU Alumni offers scholarships
Applications for the Suffolk Chapter of Norfolk State University Alumni Association Scholarship Award of $500 are available from the guidance department at King’s Fork, Lakeland and Nansemond River High Schools. Graduating seniors planning to further their education at Norfolk State University are encouraged to pick up an application from their guidance counselor. Applications should be completed and mailed to the post office box listed on the application by June 6. Call 539-9407 for more information.
Obici Alumni raising funds with dinner
Every year the Louise Obici Alumni Association puts on a fund raiser to generate money for the Louise Obici School of Nursing Scholarship which is awarded to one or more deserving students, who are pursuing a special certificate, diploma, degree, or post-graduate degree in the nursing field. The dinner will consist of Carolina BBQ, baked beans, slaw, and a roll. The fundraiser will take place Saturday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the north entrance of the Suffolk Christian Church on North Main St., Suffolk.
The BBQ dinners will cost $6 each, or 2 for $10.

Impact Suffolk
The citywide prayer meeting sponsored by Impact Suffolk will be held at Magnolia United Methodist Church, 1764 Wilroy Road, in Suffolk at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27. There will be a potluck lunch at noon. The prayer meeting normally takes place on the fourth Wednesday.
