The Reverend Herbert L. Hunter, Pastor of Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C. in Suffolk; departed this life and entered life eternal on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at Obici Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earnest and Lulee Hunter of Laurnes, S.C. and his brothers Gary and Willie Hunter. He is survived by his wife Eldress Carnez T. Hunter, children; Valerie Hunter-Kelly (Mark) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Beverly Hunter of Toluca Lake, California, Herbert Hunter (Jannette) of Henderson, Nevada, Tiffany Hunter of Atlanta, Georgia, Patricia James of Suffolk, Jerry Mitchell of Suffolk; grandchildren: Antoinette and Ashley Kelly, Marcus Hunter, Kennedy and Chase Hunter, Kevon and Kevonda Mitchell, Kendre Jones and Shaquitta Hale; brothers, James Hunter of Phoenix, AZ, Timothy Hunter of West Windsor, NJ, and John Hunter of Chicago, IL; and sisters, Francis Bryce of Philadelphia, PA, Rev. Dr. Sadie Goldsmith of Laurens, SC.
The wake will be held on Friday, Dec. 17, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C, 157 Wren Road, Suffolk. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, at 1 p.m. at Garden of Prayer of C.O.G.I.C., Church Street at Virginia Beach Boulevard, Norfolk, with Bishop L. E. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery and Chapel Mausoleum, 1421 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Greater New Hope C.O.G.I.C.
