Goldie Byrum Turner, 93, died Sept. 17, 2004 at Obici Hospital.

Born May 16, 1911 in Cisco, N.C., she was the daughter of the late John Richard and Abbie Twine Byrum and widow of George Fenton Turner and mother of the late George Turner Jr. Mrs. Turner was a member of First Baptist Church, the Women’s Missionary Union and the Kathi Thomas Circle.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Turner and James H. Deaton; brother, Lloyd S. Byrum of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Alicia Beth Turner, S. Mark Turner, Deborah Turner Condry, James H. Deaton, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; a devoted daughter-in-law, Alice S. Turner of Chattanooga, Tenn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Micah Voight and the Rev. Charles W. Thompson with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
