Deborah J. Banks

On May 20, Ms. Deborah J. Banks was presented the Claude F. Carico Award. This was given for outstanding service to Presbyterian Homes of Lynchburg. Banks works on the Zuni campus in Zuni as senior case manager for Camp House. She is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. John Banks of Suffolk. Banks has earned her degrees – bachelor and master’s – from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Banks was presented a certificate and a check from Mitzie Carpenter, director of the Zuni campus. She has been employed with Presbyterian Homes for six years.
Sheniqua K. Bynum
Sheniqua K. Bynum has been nominated for tuition scholarship for the coming year at John Paul Regional School in Baltimore Md. This is quite a prestigious nomination. She will be in the fourth-grade next year. This scholarship is based on Christian attitudes, virtues, the fruits of the spirit, behavior, scholastic standing, effort, care and concern shown others, going above and beyond what is expected, positive leadership, cooperation with teachers, respect to adults and peers and no N’s on the report card. This scholarship is given in honor of Sr. Joan Walker, formerly an assistant principal at John Paul Regional. Bynum is the daughter of Lance and Joyce S. Bynum of Randallstown, Md. and is the granddaughter of Charles and Lois Slaughter of Suffolk and Evangeline Bynum of Dutch Road.
E’Vanna A. Wallace
E’Vanna A. Wallace was recently awarded as the female student with the highest grade point average of the entire sixth grade class of 2003-2004 at King’s Fork Middle School. She was also awarded with the highest GPA in her history class, Honor Roll for the year, and the King’s Fork Middle School Sixth Grade Ambassador Award. She is in the QUEST Program for gifted students and has been in the gifted programs since kindergarten. This summer, Wallace will attend the Tidewater Governor’s School for Science and Technology for the fourth consecutive year. Wallace is a rising seventh grader at King’s Fork Middle School and is a 2003 graduate of Driver Elementary School where she was valedictorian of the class. She is the daughter of Evan and Vickie Jones Wallace and the sister of Evan Wallace Jr. She is also the granddaughter of Elaine Jones; the niece of two special aunts, Georgette Jones Rodriquez and Rosa Wallace Tabb, and the goddaughter of Beverly Taylor Lassister.
Ashley N. Walter
Ashley Nicole Walter recently graduated from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va.. and received a BA in communication studies.
