Women’s club gives scholarship to LHS grad

The Woman’s Club of Suffolk, a member of the GFWC – Virginia, presented its scholarship award to Chase Matthew Nelson. He is a graduating from Lakeland High School with a grade point average of 4.2, third in a class of 331.
Chase was a member of the Beta Club, earned academic letters in 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004, and he was a Virginian-Pilot scholastic team member.
He has been accepted to the University, and will study to become an engineer.
Chase was captain of the varsity football and basketball teams, and was recognized as a most valuable player, as an offensive and defensive player, as well as varsity basketball.
Chase is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.J. (Billy and Kay) Nelson.
