United Way wins through ball game

United Way was the winner in a softball game in which it did not play. In the Department of Public Utilities’ first Co-Ed Softball Tournament, the Suffolk Police Department’s team brought home the gold and the bucks to benefit the United Way. The game took place Saturday, with participants from Neighborhood Development Services, the City Attorney’s office, Economic Development, Public Utilities, Suffolk Public Schools, and the police. City Councilman Calvin Jones served as coach for the Economic Development Team.
The winning Suffolk Police Department team roster included Anthony Boone, James Buie, David Chipman, Joe Coleman, Mark Erie, Kevin Hutt, Craig Linzy, Kim Mayo, Patrice Sessoms, and Dwayne Wiggins
