Navy Hospitalman Marcus L. Artis recently went ashore to Roberts International Airport and the Freeport of Monrovia in Liberia to provide support for West African forces while assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), based in Camp Lejeune, N.C. The unit is currently deployed with the USS Iwo Jima. He joined the Navy in July 2001.

Artis is the son of Rosa Artis and Curtis G. Washington, both of Suffolk and is a 2001 graduate of Lakeland High School

James D. Beall

James D. Beall has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. He is currently attending Mississippi State University.

Beale is the son of Delton M. and Jeannie Beall of Townsend Place, Suffolk.

Brandt K. Boulden

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Brandt K. Boulden recently reported for duty at Navy Recruiting District Miami, Sunrise, Fla.

Boulden’s wife Lisa, is the daughter of Laurain Griggs and John Griggs, both of Suffolk.

Isha J. Bradshaw

Navy Seaman Recruit Isha J. Bradshaw, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Bradshaw is the daughter of Sheila L. Jones of Portsmouth and John W. Beamon of Suffolk and is a 2003 graduate of Washington High School in Washington, N.C.

Lametria R. Bruce

Air Force Airman Lametria R. Bruce has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Bruce is the daughter of Herbert M. Bruce Jr. of King Court, Suffolk and the granddaughter of Sueanne Sanders of Dudley Road, Latta, S.C. She is also a 2001 graduate of Lakeland High School.

Donald H. Burbage

Navy Chief Petty Officer Donald H. Burbage was recently selected for promotion to the chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy while assigned to Naval Air Technical Training Center, Pensacola, Fla.

Burbage’s wife, Virginia, is the daughter of Shelia H. Scott of Suffolk

Sean M. Cook

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Sean M. Cook recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home based in Norfolk.

Cook is the daughter of Rose and Frank S. Doughtery of Suffolk.

Lynard L. Crocker

Lynard L. Crocker recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home based in Norfolk. He joined the Navy in November 2000.

Crocker is the son of Carolyn and Lynard Crocker of Suffolk.

Allen B. Davis

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Allen B. Davis made a week long port visit to Singapore while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, homeported in San Diego, CA.

Davis is the husband of Diana Saunders who is the daughter of Elizabeth Saunders of Suffolk.

William T. Johnson

William T. Johnson has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) National Advanced Leadership Camp at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash.

Upon graduation, the ROTC cadet was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. In addition he was commissioned as a second lieutenant at the graduation.

Johnson is a 1999 graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and a 2003 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington. He is the son of William C. and Sara A. Johnson of N Brand St., Suffolk

Ebony C. Lewis

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ebony C. Lewis recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home based in Norfolk.

Lewis is a 1998 graduate of Lakeland High School

Lolete Lewis

Army 1st Lt. Lolete Lewis has returned to the 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas, after being deployed to an overseas forward operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom

Lewis graduated in 1995 from Lakeland High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 2000 from St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va.
