Essie E. Jernigan

Essie Eure Jernigan, 96, died Oct. 22, 2003, in Nansemond Pointe Nursing Home.
She was a daughter of the late Linwood G. and Mary Jane Felton Eure, and the widow of Benjamin Franklin Jernigan. Mrs. Jernigan was predeceased by three sisters, Bonnie Williams, Norene Mitchell and Hontas Rose; and three brothers James Eure, Nat Eure and Linwood Eure.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all who knew her, she leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Patricia Jernigan Bristow, and her husband, James Edward; a granddaughter Elizabeth Bristow Simpkins, and husband, Benny; a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Simpkins; a great-grandson, Hunter Bodie Simpkins; and one brother, John D. Eure, all of Suffolk.
A native of Suffolk, Mrs. Jernigan was a lifetime member of Suffolk Christian Church and its West Memorial Sunday School Class.
The graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Cedar Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Michael D. Halley.
