James and Mary Jane Jones celebrated 50 years of marriage on Oct. 18, 2003.

At a reception given by their family, the golden couple reminisced with family and friends in Whaleyville United Methodist Church in Suffolk, where they started their life together. Several members of the original wedding party were on hand to join in the celebration.

Mr. Jones is retired from the U.S. Navy and also Home Beneficial Life, and Mrs. Jones is retired from the food service department at Tucker Capps Elementary School. They have two sons one daughter, with respective spouses; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Jones family is truly blessed to have James and Mary Jane in their lives for so many years.
