A 70-year-old Suffolk resident died Monday from injuries suffered in an accident over the weekend. Mamie Lee Boone of the 200 block of North Fourth Street died in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

Boone was injured in a three-vehicle accident around 11 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Pruden Boulevard, said George.

Boone was a passenger in a westbound 1997 Dodge Caravan that was struck by a 2002 Hyundai that crossed over the solid yellow line, she said. The collision sent Boone’s vehicle into the east- bound lanes, where it was struck by a 2001 Toyota mini-van.

Eight other people were injured in the accident, George said.

The accident is still under investigation.
