Kelly Duke, Bartek Drewnowski married in Main Street UMC

Kelly Joy Duke and Bartek Piotr Drewnowski were united in marriage Saturday evening Sept. 6, 2003, at Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk. The Rev. Robert Parks Jr. officiated the double-ring ceremony. A seated dinner reception followed at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hevener IV of Suffolk, and the late R. Eley Duke Jr.
She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Duke of Suffolk, Mrs. H. Cecil Owens of Grenada, Miss., and the late Mr. James Hollis Gary.
The groom is the son of Dr. Krystyna P. Drewnowska Coates and Mr. Wojtek S. Drewnowski of Richmond.
He is the grandson of Drs. Zbigniew and Hanna Przymanowski of Gdansk, Poland, Mrs. Halina Drewnowska of Warsaw, Poland, and the late Mr. Janusz Drewnowski.
The bride – escorted by Mr. William Hevener IV and given in marriage on behalf of her family by her brother, R. Eley Duke III – wore a strapless ivory gown of duchess satin by Amsale with a champagne taffeta sash that extended down the back of the chapel-length train.
She held an Irish linen handkerchief that had been carried by mother and grandmother.
The matron of honor was Mrs. Margaret Virginia Staylor Kreuger of Richmond, childhood friend of the bride.
Bridesmaids were: Magdalene Eve Drewnowski of Gunnison, Colo., sister of the groom; Anne Carson Goldberg of Virginia Beach; Denson Anne Pretlow, cousin of the bride; Susannah Virginia Carr and Tara Anne Sodano, all of Richmond.
Mr. Wojtek K. Drewnowski served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were: Ray Eley Duke III of Suffolk, brother of the bride; Michael Louis DeBartolo of Charlotte, N.C.; Ryan Ray Ludwig of Massanutten; Christopher Allen Corvello and Robert Corr Hobbs, both of Richmond.
Readers were Mrs. Monica Hevener Eure of Suffolk, and Dr. William Hevener V of Franklinton, N.C. Program assistants were Victoria Krystyna Coates of Richmond and Anna-Sophia Baroody of Winnetka, Ill.
Mrs. Joseph Collins Draper Jr. and Mrs. Charles Cutchin Powell served as mistresses of ceremony of the church. Mrs. Mills Wellons Staylor Jr. and Mrs. Donald Zell Goldberg of Chesapeake were mistresses of ceremony of the reception.
A rehearsal dinner hosted by the groom’s parents was held Friday evening at the Town Point Club in Norfolk.
The bride is a graduate of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy and James Madison University, where she received a bachelor of science degree in integrated science and technology. She is a software developer for Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance in Richmond and a ski patroller at Massanutten Resort.
The groom is a graduate of Monacan High School and James Madison University, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in sociology. He is the ski patrol director at Massanutten Resort and the assistant operations manager at Degesch America Inc. in Richmond.
Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple will reside in Richmond.
