Janet Elizabeth Lewis and Patrick Benjamin Owens were married at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Magnolia United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Mike Derflinger officiated the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Lewis of Suffolk.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Edgar Owens Jr. of Suffolk.
The bride is the maternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willard S. Holland. She is the paternal granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Lewis.
The groom is the maternal grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Percy F. Russell Sr. He is the paternal grandson of Mrs. Claudine Wright Owens, and the late Mr. Henry Edgar Owens Sr.
Miss Lewis is a 1991 graduate of Lakeland High School, a 1995 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, and a 1998 graduate of Old Dominion University.
She is employed by Elizabeth Arden Inc. of Stamford, Conn.
Mr. Owens is a 1996 graduate of Lakeland High School. He attended Longwood College, and is a 2002 graduate of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Apprenticeship Program.
He is employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard of Portsmouth.
The bride wore a sleeveless, princess-style gown of satin and organza. It had an off-the-shoulder neckline with lace trim and appliqus. An A-line skirt extended into a cathedral-length train.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Pamela R. Davis.
Bridesmaids were Mrs. Siobhan Sullivan, Marsha Allen, Mrs. Kimie Davis, Melissa Stewart.
Flower girl was Victoria Owens.
Best man was Mr. Henry Edgar Owens Jr., father of the groom.
Groomsmen were Christopher Owens, Jonathan Owens Sr., Owen Davis, and Rod Caprio.
Ring bearer was Joseph Owens.
Organist was Mrs. Earleen Sylvia. Sound was handled by Mrs. Lou Ann Dennison.
Guest book attendant was Mrs. Christina Foster.
Program ushers were Lindsey Caprio and Jonathan Owens Jr.
Cake attendants were Deborah Owens and April Owens.
Mistresses of ceremony were Betty Layden and Mrs. Jennifer Harry.
Following the ceremony, a reception took place in the fellowship hall.
The couple went to the Bahamas for their honeymoon.
They reside in Suffolk.
