Pastor Richard and Margaret Walker celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Friday, March 21.
On Saturday, April 26, the Walker children – Mrs. Cynthia Mack of Bloomfield, Conn., and Minister Richard Walker III of Norfolk – honored their parents with a &uot;Fifty Years of Elegance&uot; banquet and entertainment in the Benn’s United Methodist Church Family Worship Center in Smithfield.
The attire was African.
More than 150 family and friends came out to share in the celebration. Everyone enjoyed being entertained by praise dancers, saxophone music, including a performance of Maya Angelo’s &uot;I Am Woman,&uot; two solos, and comedy time.
The anniversary cake adorned with the honorees’ picture was a gift made in Connecticut and brought here by Cynthia.
A colorful souvenir booklet was given to those who placed ads. Also, program was made into book form that included family photos and tributes from children and grandchildren.
We are very thankful to our children, their spouses, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, our Union Bethel AME Church family in Smithfield, Jasma Morgan of Hartford, Conn., other relatives and friends for sharing in a celebration that will live in our hearts forever more.
Special thanks to the limo service and those who did not attend but sent gifts. We love you all.
