Mildred Hill

Ms. Mildred Hill, 62, of 3508 Roanoke Ave., Newport News, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at her residence. She was a native of Nansemond County, and was a daughter of Bernice M. Scott Hill, and the late James Hill, and was a lifelong companion to Phillip Gibbs Sr. of Newport News.
Besides her mother, Bernice M. Scott Hill of Suffolk, she is survived by four daughters, Mary Gibbs, and her husband, Lenious C. Sr. of Hampton; Margette Gray, and her husband, Elder Larry Gray Sr., of Carrollton; Claudette Warren of Suffolk, and Carolyn Hill of Newport News; one son, Phillip Gibbs Jr., and his wife, Sheree, of Newport News; six brothers, Percy Hill and his wife, Claudia; Milton Hill, Willie Lee Hill, and his wife, Ruby; and James Hill, and his wife, Lora, all of
Suffolk; John Hill, and his wife, Valerie, of Hampton; and Melvin Hill of Newport News; an adopted sister, Nellie Mae Spratley, and her husband, Fred, of Suffolk; 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Edward Hill; four aunts, Leander Van, Daisy Mann, Cecil Pittman, and Rosa Goodman; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday, June 14, in Mt. Lebanon Church of God in Christ, Suffolk, by Elder Larry Gray. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The family will be at the home of her mother, Bernice M. Hill, 1701 Pine Acres Lane, Suffolk.
