Healthy leaders merits support

After a time of visibly poor health, Mary V. Richardson has apparently recuperated strongly enough to maintain the chairmanship of the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners. She was re-elected Tuesday night.
Good. Because when a leader is health, the rest should follow. We look forward to progressive developments from the SRHA in the months to follow.
We’re also encouraged by the news that Elizabeth Smith has been named the vice chairman. She has reportedly earned her place there and, based on the report that a few other commissioners wanted her for the top post, she’ll probably one day succeed Richardson.
Meanwhile, it’s up to Richardson, Smith and the other commissioners to work closely with Executive Director Clarissa McAdoo and keep the agency vital to the city’s welfare.
