A local manufacturer is expanding into the Suffolk Industrial Park.

TRINDCO, a manufacturer of high-end countertop surfacing materials, has purchased 4.3 acres, and plans to begin construction on a new $1-million, 20,000-square-foot building this spring. The new facility will be set up with specialized automated fabrication and conveying equipment to increase production and meet the demands of the marketplace.

The site is large enough to add an additional 30,000-square-feet expansion of manufacturing and distribution space in the future.

TRINDCO is based at 680 Carolina Road, less than a mile from the new Suffolk Industrial Park site. The company’s sales and installation offices are in Richmond, Roanoke and a new location in Greensboro, N.C.

As the company grows, it expects to add several more jobs, especially to the sales and management team, said Company President Kenneth G. Trinder II.
