Ashby M. Joe Jr., 56, of 4325 N. Ainslie Ct., Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Obici Hospital.

A native of Nansemond County, he was the brother to the late Elonora Bladley.

He had been employed as a material handler at the Norfolk Naval Base for 25 years, and had been a Suffolk Police officer.

Survivors include a son, Tony Fleetwood of Newport News; two sisters, Evoria Walton and Carolyn Wilson; three brothers-in-law, John Bladley, James Walton and Walter Wilson; nieces, nephews, cousins, two aunts, Arlethia Butts of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ruth Holiman of Connecticut; and a devoted friend, Rudolph Alston.

The funeral will be held at noon Tuesday in Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Anthony Copeland. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Park Cemetery.

Viewing will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday in the Good News Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The family will assemble at 11 a.m. at the residence for the procession.
