Herman M. White made a special trip to the News-Herald office very early on Friday morning to make his donation of $100 to the Suffolk News-Herald Cheer Fund on behalf of H.M. White Transportation Co. Inc.
&uot;I don’t mind helping contributing to this cause to help the fund make its goal,&uot; said White. &uot;I think that everybody should have the same attitude so I am challenging companies to do the same.&uot;
The H.M. White Transportation Co. Inc. began in 1961 and employs six part-time drivers.
&uot;One bus driver has been with us ever since we have been in business,&uot; said White.
The company serves organizations such as churches, schools, senior citizens, social groups, and families for reunions. It has transported groups as far as the West Coast. On Wednesday, Dec. 18, the bus service is sponsoring a trip of its own to Ahoskie, N.C. to visit Godwin Meat Market and the Ahoskie Shopping Center.
&uot;We take groups to these places especially the meat market because smoked meat is so much cheaper there, and these are nice places to visit, especially for retired persons,&uot; said White.
You or members of your organization may also have the opportunity to have your picture published in the Suffolk New-Herald Cheer Fund Column when you make your donation and have news of your interest printed also. You may visit the office at 130 S. Saratoga St. from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., or you may make your tax-deductible donation check out to the Suffolk Cheer Fund, c/o Suffolk News Herald at the same address printed above.
