Ida R. Hobbs

Ida Mae Riddick Hobbs, 96, of Nansemond Pointe Convalescent Center and formerly of Desert Road in Corapeake, N.C., died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002.
Mrs. Hobbs was born in Gates County, N.C., and was the last surviving of the 12 children born to the late James Washington and Mary Jane Trotman Riddick.
A homemaker, she was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, its Women’s Missionary Union, and its Young At Heart Senior Citizens Group.
She was married to Walter Ray Hobbs for 51 years and later to Wade Hampton Hobbs for four years.
Both husbands preceded her in death as did her children, daughter, Annie Rae Hobbs, and sons, James Ralph Hobbs and Walter Edward Hobbs.
Surviving are her daughters-in-law, Betty Hobbs of Suffolk and Glenda Hobbs of Corapeake; six grandchildren, Barry Hobbs, Paula Gray, Julie Greene, Edward Ray Hobbs, Jane Chappell, and Jennifer Hobbs; 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Cameron Currin, pastor. Burial will follow in the Riddick family Cemetery; near Sandy Cross.
Friends may join the family from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, N.C., and other times at the home of Randall and Jane Chappell, 127 Desert Rd., Corapeake.
