Saints romp in season-ending shutout of HRA

Patrick Whalen, Jason Hodak, and Daniel Curran all scored as the Nansemond-Suffolk Aca-demy soccer team ended its season with a 3-0 shutout of host Hampton Roads Academy on Thursday.
Local karate school to hold Open House Saturday
In honor of National Martial Arts Day, Jeff Bateman’s School of Karate on Portsmouth Boulevard will be holding an Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Students will be holding demonstrations, classes, and other activities for public viewing. For more information, call 934-6133 or 851-2606.
Local golfers to battle Western Branch Sunday
The Southeastern Junior Golf Academy will be taking on Western Branch at noon on Sunday at the Suffolk Golf Course (SGC). Representing the Academy will be such players as Nansemond River High School student Gregory Hunt and Suffolk resident Binford Hunter, who won their respective age groups at the Academy’s 2002 Club Championship at SGC Sept. 28-29.
Soccer, basketball signups start Oct. 26
Registration for the Parks and Rec. Department indoor soccer and basketball leagues will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturdays from Oct. 26 to Nov. 23 at the Mack Benn, Oakland, King’s Fork, and Northern Shores Recreation Centers.
The cost is $35 for novice (5-7) and $40 for Pee-Wee (8-10) and Midget (11-13).

Wrestling legends to visit NN on Oct. 20
Longtime wrestling rivals &uot;Beautiful&uot; Bobby Eaton of the &uot;Midnight Express&uot; and Ricky Morton of the &uot;Rock and Roll Express&uot; will square off in the 3rd Annual Virginia Champion-ship Wrestling Anniversary show at the Mitty’s nightclub in Newport News on Oct. 20.
The Barbarian, a former WWF and WCW superstar will be on the card, which will begin at 6 p.m.
