&uot;I was tired, but we were all trying to win,&uot; said Williams. &uot;I didn’t think it was a good shot, because their defenders were all over me.&uot;
He didn’t waste time in the extra period, banging in a jumper with 21 seconds in. Lewis tied the score at the 1:38 mark, but Williams broke down the left side of the court and snuck inside the baseline for another jumper. He then swished a free throw with 15 seconds left, and the Jaguars were unable to get off a shot.
&uot;They couldn’t stop me,&uot; said Williams, &uot;because I’m too fast, and I have too many basketball skills!&uot;
The Lady Chargers had a much easier time of things, defeating the Lady Jaguars 25-16 to stay unbeaten at 4-0.
After Brittany Maddox and Micha Alston scored six points each as JY raced to an 18-7 halftime lead, the Lady Jaguars made a run midway through the second half. Selita Privett laid in a shot with 8:40 on the clock to get to 20-11, and Brittany Holloway scored three points over the next three minutes, cutting the lead to six.
Deshonna Mitchell charged past the Lady Charger defense for a jumper with 3:28 left, and KF was within four. But Erica Howell broke away for two baskets at the two-minute mark, and Erica Jones sank a free throw to end the game.
&uot;It was hard and we were tired, because it was physical, and we’d been playing for the whole game,&uot; said Maddox. &uot;But we’ll most definitely win the rest of our games.&uot;
