Reader thanks council members who pay

Editor, the News-Herald:
I applaud the members of City Council who apparently have now decided to pay for a part, and I stress the word &uot;part,&uot; of the upcoming Tides Inn soiree. However, it’s not at all reassuring that a decision of this magnitude was reportedly made without knowing all of the related facts – not the least of which is the cost involved. I also feel great sympathy for any Council member who cannot afford to pay for their Tide’s Inn room and doesn’t have someone to pay their salary while they take a day off.
A couple of questions do come to mind:
Was that a horse I saw galloping away from that barn where that group of people was busy closing the door? Who voted for this thing anyway?
Finally, I am pleased that the Suffolk News-Herald plans to follow up and have its reporter let the people of Suffolk know more about the great Tides Inn caper?
