Phyllis Foster

Phyllis Foster of 8401 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, was born on Sept. 1, 1958 in Suffolk. She departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 23, 2002, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Phyllis was a 1977 graduate of John Yeates High School and attended Norfolk State University.
She was employed as a superintendent/supervisor for Smithfield Foods.
She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where she served as deaconess, youth advisor, past president of the Gospel Choir, secretary of the Deacon/Deaconess and Trustee Board, secretary of the Mass Choir, coordinator of the Macedonia Praise Dancers, a member of the Pastor’s Aide, Emma V. Kelley Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School, but most of all Phyllis was a born-again believer.
She leaves to cherish her life and loving memory, husband, Anthony Foster Sr.; one daughter, Karla Foster, one son, Anthony Foster Jr., mother, Deloris Goodwin, stepfather, Curtis Goodwin of Suffolk, and father, Joe Jones, all of Suffolk; sister, Sonja Hall (Randy) of Chesapeake; brothers, Tony Townsend (Gloria) of Fayetteville, N.C.; Neal Townsend (Iola) and Jeffery Townsend (Rena), all of Suffolk; Sidney Townsend (Rhonda) of Chesapeake; Robert Townsend of Portsmouth; and Bryant Townsend (Tanisha) of Boise, Idaho; step brothers, Steve Jones of Suffolk; Curtis Goodwin (Sue) of Hampton; Matthew Towns of Fayetteville, N.C.; and Mark Goodwin of Florida; 13 sisters-in-law, eight brothers-in-law; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Macedonia Baptist Church by Pastor Jeffrey Knight. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial. Gardens.

Dollie K Hatfield
Dollie Kiser Hatfield, 91, of Beech Creek, W.Va., passed away Friday, July 26, 2002, in the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Ky.
Born on May 30, 1911 in Meador, W.Va,, she was the daughter of the late L.C. and Martha Browning Kiser.
She was a member of the Devon Church of Christ.
Survivors include sons, Ronald Gene (Mabel) Hatfield of Suffolk, and their sons, Ronald Jr., Randall and Rickey; and Henry (Lois) Hatfield of Suffolk, and their children, Douglas and Erin.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Devon Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Ellison Hatfield Cemetery at Newtown, W. Va.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Saturday at the church with services at 7 p.m.
Hatfield Funeral Chapel, Belfry, Ky., is in charge.
Benjamin L. Moseley Jr.
On Wednesday morning, July 24, 2002, Benjamin L. Moseley Jr. of 11815 Camp Pond Road, Suffolk, was touched by God’s angel and entered into eternal rest.
Benjamin L. Moseley Jr. was the son of the late Edna and Benjamin Moseley Sr., born on Jan. 16, 1938, in Long Island, N.Y.
He was baptized in his youth. He completed high school at John Adams High School, the Bronx, N.Y. He attended one year of college at Monroe Business School. He attended one year of college at Monroe Business School.
Benjamin gladly served in the U.S. Army, and afterwards was an active member of the Masons. He worked for Russell Taylor Coat Company in New York for many years. He was employed at QVC in Suffolk for five years. His last employment was with Virga Pizza Crusts Inc. of Portsmouth.
After relocating to Virginia, he became a member of Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ.
Benjamin was a kind person, a loving husband, father and friend.
Benjamin L. Moseley Jr. continues to be cherished and loved by his wife, Joan Holland Moseley; three daughters, Valerie, Jacqueline and Patrina Moseley, all of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one son, David Moseley of New York City; six grandchildren; three aunts, Gertrude Coble and Bae McKinney, both of Sparta, Ga., and Lucy Latimer of Atlanta, Ga.; and several cousins and friends.
The memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Building Fund, Corinth Chapel United Church of Christ, 7945 Corinth Chapel Road, Suffolk, Va. 23437, in memory of Benjamin L. Moseley Jr.
