Troy Police Department’s arrest of two men following a burglary last month at Plantation Nursery has led to the resolution of several related incidents in Montgomery.

Officers with the Troy Police Department arrested Tyree Martin, 21, of 13154 U.S. Highway 80 East, Pike Road, and Marrell Alamosa Crittenden Jr., 18, of 20143 Highway 80 East, Montgomery July 21, according to police reports.

Martin and Crittenden are each charged with theft of property second degree in Pike County District Court. The class B felony is punishable by two to 20 years in prison, according to the Alabama Criminal Code Annotated.

The two suspects were held in the Pike County Jail on $10,000 bond each, and posted bond the same day they were arrested, according to court records. They are scheduled to go before a Pike County Grand Jury Dec. 6.

After the men were arrested, TPD officers notified the Montgomery County Sheriffs Department, since the men live there, said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, TPD public information officer.

"Montgomery County advised us they had several incidents of the same nature and the descriptions, and the individuals and suspects’ vehicle were the same," Scarbrough said. "The investigation also revealed a connection to the incidents within the Montgomery city limits."

As a result of the TPD arresting the two suspects, it appears crimes in other jurisdictions will be solved, he said.

Workers at Plantation Nursery, which is located at 3178 U.S. Highway 231 South, called police at about 3:30 p.m. July 21 and reported the burglary, Everage said. The caller said the incident happened between 2:04 p.m. and 2:15.

"Money was allegedly stolen from the cash register of the victim," said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough, TPD public information officer. "Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the two suspects."

No weapon was used in the incident. Court records state $350 was taken in the incident.

Workers at Plantation Nursery declined to comment on the incident.
