James Grant, 75, of 405 S. Main St., Suffolk died Sept. 5, 2004, in Obici hospital. He was a native of Nansemond County. He was the son of the late Charlie Grant and Carrie Bryant Grant. He was the widower of Juanita Grant. He retired from the New York Transit Authority.

Survivors include four daughters, Sandra Grant, Odetta Grant and Tracy Grant, all from Bronx, N.Y., and Tarnisha Grant of Suffolk; three sons, Jamal Grant from Bronx, N.Y., Darrell Grant of Connecticut and Ahmad Grant (Holly) of Albuquerque, N.M. He was preceded in death a son, Reginald Grant

His is also survived by three sisters, Hattie White, Carrie Weaver, Emily Grant, and Rosa Figgs (William), all of Suffolk, and Lucille Grant of New York; one brother, Joe Lee Underwood of Hampton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon Sept. 11, 2004, in the Crocker Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Anthony Copeland. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
