SMITHFIELD, Va. — Jessie Spivey Pierce, 86, died Jan. 2, 2010, at Riverside Convalescent Center, Smithfield, Va. She was the daughter of the late Jesse B. and Mellie P. Spivey and was predeceased by her husband Leon F. Pierce; sisters Edith Ralph, Ivaree Austin, Syble Morris; and brother James B. Spivey.
Survivors include her sister-in-law Marie Spivey of Portsmouth, Virginia; nephew James B. Spivey, Jr. and wife Cherie of Martinsville, Virginia; nieces Susan Boyce and husband Ronald of Suffolk, and Melanie Sawyer and husband David of Wildwood, Missouri; great niece Mallori Boyce and great nephew Steven J. Spivey.
Mrs. Pierce was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church, Churchland, Virginia and a former member of Smithfield Baptist Church, Smithfield, Virginia. She was also a member of the Smithfield Women’s Club.
A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory by Dr. Donald R. Rhoton with burial at Eureka Baptist Church, Corapeake, N.C.
