Delsie Marie Greene Elliott, 77, passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2010, at Maryview Hospital in Portsmouth. She was a lifelong resident of Suffolk.
She was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Nansemond County to the late Ruby Saunders Greene and Horace B. Greene and was predeceased by two brothers, Marion Greene and Horace Greene and one sister, Minnie Strong.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 59 years, Lester Elliott, devoted daughter Sheila M. Brown, son-in-law Tyrone L. Brown and one grandson Ridge Brown, all of Suffolk; one sister; Betty J. Beaumont, of Los Angeles; and a host of nieces, nephews and family members and her adopted daughters at Catherine’s and her Union Bethel Baptist Church family.
Mrs. Elliott was a faithful member of Union Bethel Baptist Church her entire adult life, and she gave tirelessly of herself, actively serving on several ministries until called home to be with the Lord.
In 2008, she retired from Catherine’s, where she loved serving as a sales assistant for 32 years, meeting many wonderful people who are still friends today.
A wake will be held Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home, 900 East Washington St.
A Going-Home service will be held on Wednesday 11 a.m., at Union Bethel Baptist Church, 1817 Jolliff Rd., Chesapeake. The family and friends will assemble at the church on Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. Pastor Calvin D. White will officiate.
