Kenneth Earl Lawrence, 51, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 in Shands Hospital, Jacksonville, Fla. He was a native of Suffolk, Va., and the son of the late James Lawrence and Mildred Chestnut Lawrence.
He was a graduate of John Yeates High School and Virginia State University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Jacksonville and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Doreen Lawrence, of Norfolk, Va., and Jawanna Jones, of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jowann, Darrius, Donnterria and Harley; two sisters, Mildred A. Moore (William Jr.) and Wanda M. Lawrence, both of Suffolk; one brother, James Lawrence Jr., of Jacksonville; 10 aunts, one great-aunt, two uncles; five nieces, Ebony, Tiaka, Natalie, Wandreia and Tyler; a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at Crocker Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Elder Keith Mayfield. The family will be at 2010 Smalleys Dam Circle in Suffolk.
