SUFFOLK — Grace Mason, 76, of 2077 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009 in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Harold Cross and Hattie Sue Wilson Cross. She was also predeceased by her husband, Herbert Mason, and a sister, Mable Tyler.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan St., where she was a deaconess, former member of Willing Workers Club and Sunday School Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Larry Vernon Mason, of Suffolk; a devoted grandson, Vernon Mason, of Suffolk and stepson, Alvin Simpson, of Suffolk; one sister, Anna Ashley, of Suffolk; one brother, Harold Cross (Corine), of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Steven G. Blunt officiating. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
