Columbus Parker

SUFFOLK — Columbus C. Parker, 75, of 1056 Centerbrooke Lane, No. 332 in Suffolk died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Christopher C. A. Buss Parker and Maggie Edwards. He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Pelma Parker; one brother, Jacob Parker, and three sisters, Emma Witherspoon, Addie Parker and Orabell Turner.
He retired as a crew leader from Smithfield Packing Company after 34 years of service. He was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church and its Sunday school. He was a former member of Kings Men of Tidewater.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Lillie H. Parker; his daughter, Chonda N. Everett and goddaughter, Kiana Hall, both of Suffolk; one son, William Faulks, of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren and eight adopted grandchildren; three sisters, Clara Ricks, Sadie Faulk (James) and Dorothy Sharpe, all of Suffolk; one brother, the Rev. Larry J. Parker (Talma), of Suffolk; two brothers-in-law, Wilbert Hall (Claudeanne), of Portsmouth, Va., and Charles Hall, of Newport News, Va.; one sister-in-law, Frances Jones, of Suffolk; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at Little Bethel Baptist Church, 6533 Everets Road, in Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Bernard Thomas and the Rev. Larry Parker. Interment will be in Christian Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Windsor, Va. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
